Task categories

Task categories provide a way to group tasks of a similar type. For example, tasks requiring a hands-on demonstration may belong to a category called Practical.

Open the Configuration Manager by choosing Manage > Configuration from the menu. The Configuration Manager displays an alphabetically ordered explorer tree.

Then Task categories branch facilitates the following:

NOTE: Tasks can be added, edited and deleted through the category branch. These functions can also be performed via the Tasks branch.

 

Adding a new task category



  • Right-click Task categories and choose Add new task category.

This will open the Task Category Wizard:



  • Enter a Name for the task category.
  • This task category is archived indicates if the task category should be archived. If ticked, the task category will be added/moved to the Archived task categories branch.
  • Optionally, provide a Description for the task category.
  • Click Next and then Finish.

 

Editing an existing task category

  • Expand Task categories.
  • Right-click the task category and choose Edit task category.

This will open the Task category Wizard, where you can make changes.

 

Deleting a task category

  • Expand Task categories.
  • Right-click the task category and choose Delete task category.
  • Click Yes when asked to confirm the delete.

If an error occurs, the Task category has likely been used previously and is included in historical data. In this case, you will need to archive the code to remove it from active use.

 

Viewing the task category report

This report details all the task categories, including those that have been archived.

  • Right-click Task categories and choose Show task category report.

The report will be displayed in a new tab/window.

 

Adding a task

NOTE: At least one category must exist to be able to create a new task by this method.

  • Expand Task categories.
  • Right-click a category and choose Add new task.

This will open the Task Wizard.

 

Editing a task

  • Expand Task categories and the relevant category.
  • Right-click the task and choose Edit task.

This will open the Task Wizard, where you can make changes.

 

Deleting a task

  • Expand Task categories and the relevant category.
  • Right-click the task and choose Delete task.
  • Click Yes when asked to confirm the delete.

Viewing the task report (for a category)

NOTE: This report can also be viewed for all tasks across all categories, using the Tasks branch.

This report details all the tasks associated with the selected category.

  • Expand Task categories.
  • Right-click a category and choose Show task report.

The report will be displayed in a new tab/window.
