Credit Card Discount

Credit Card Discounts are part of the Discounts feature, the settings for which can be accessed from the Configuration () page, via the Discount Settings link under Payment Settings.

This is a single, global setting applicable to any standard registration (individual or group, not Rapid) where Credit Card is chosen by the user as the payment method.

Credit Card Discounts in the VETenrol Admin

Navigate to the Discount Settings page in the VETenrol Admin via Configuration ().

The Credit Card Discount section is used to apply a discount, or surcharge.

Applying a discount

To create a discount for credit card payments:

1. Choose the Discount type.
   • None — no discount applied (default).
   • Percentage Off — the value is the percentage by which the price will be discounted.
   • Amount Off — the value is a set dollar amount deducted from the price.

When a discount other than None is selected, a field for the value will be displayed and labelled accordingly.

2. Enter the value of the discount (do not include percentage or dollar symbols).
3. Click the Save button.

Applying a surcharge

To apply a credit card surcharge instead of a discount, enter the surcharge amount as a negative number.

For example: For a 2.5% surcharge, the Discount type should be set to Percentage Off and the value should be entered as -2.5.

1. Choose the Discount type.
   • Percentage Off — the value is the percentage by which the price will be discounted.
   • Amount Off — the value is a set dollar amount deducted from the price.
2. Enter the value of the discount with the - symbol at the beginning, but not percentage or dollar symbols.
3. Click the Save button.

Credit Card Discounts in the VETenrol Student Interface

The interface for the student/participant registering for a course updates to indicate that a discount or surcharge applies. This occurs at the Confirm step near the end of the registration process, where the Payment Options section appears.

Upon selecting Credit Card from the Payment Method drop-down menu, a message based on the discount/surcharge is displayed beneath the selection and the price of the registration near the top of page is updated to reflect the new total.

The message will give the dollar value being added or subtracted to the cost regardless of the Credit Card discount being set as a Percentage or Amount Off.
