Error Details
NAT File | Error Code | Error Description |
Any | 2101 | Record number (xxx) contains at least one illegal character in field (xxx) from field position (xx) |
Explanation
This error indicates that when performing data entry, such as Client or Client Address, you used an invalid character, such as a space or a foreign character, etc. This may be caused by copying the data from another source
VETtrak will, in most cases, exclude invalid characters, however, sometimes they slip through the cracks.
Below are some examples of characters in the NAT00080 file, that are illegal:
- An illegal character;
Characters that aren't included on a standard English keyboard are usually illegal. - A space in the client name;
Solution
Use a tool such as Notepad++ to open your NAT files to find the problematic characters. It's free and helps to identify foreign characters in your NAT Files. NAT files are text files that can be opened to view the records. Each line in the text file represents 1 record. To reveal hidden characters in Notepad++ go to View - Show Symbol and tick Show All Characters.
The solution we recommend is to remove all data from the affected field and re-enter the information by manually typing the characters on your keyboard. If this doesn't work, remove the data completely, save the record, then go back in and re-type the information manually again.
