AVETMISS Step

AVETMISS is a category of Optional Steps, which is accessed from the Configuration () page in the VETenrol Admin.

These settings apply to the AVETMISS step in the standard registration process, which obtains information necessary for the Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information Statistical Standard (AVETMISS).

  This button commits any changes to the settings. It appears to the right of the navigation area and at the bottom of the page. Saving will keep changes to settings made across tabs.

AVETMISS step options

First, control if the step will be included in the registration process:

• Enable AVETMISS step

Then, the individual options are:

• Only show AVETMISS on occurrences with qualification
• Mandate collection of Country of birth
• Collect Town of Birth
• Mandate Town of Birth
• Mandate collection of Language Spoken
• Collect English Proficiency
• Remove mandate on collection of Indigenous Status
• Mandate collection of Highest School Level
• Do not collect Year Completed
• Remove mandate on collection of Year Completed
• Mandate collection of secondary school status
• Do not collect Prior Qual Name & year
• Do not collect Prior Education Recognition

Enable step
This option enables the step in the registration process.

• If the option is ticked () other settings relating to the step will become available.
• If the option is unticked () the step will not be part of the registration process.

Enable AVETMISS step (  ) without other step options ticked

Only show AVETMISS on occurrences with qualification
Limits the AVETMISS step to be only included in registrations for occurrences with a qualification set within VETtrak when it is enabled (). The step is displayed for all programmes and occurrences if the checkbox is disabled ().

Mandate collection of Country of Birth
Makes the question "In which country were you born" mandatory, when enabled.

Include Town of Birth question
Enable this to include the Town of Birth field as part of the information collected, the question can then be made mandatory using the Force collection of Town of Birth option.

Mandate collection of Language Spoken
Makes mandatory the question "Do you speak a language other than English at home?".

Collect English proficiency question
When enabled (), will include a question regarding how well the participant speaks English. This question was previously required nationally, but is now only known to be relevant for Western Australia.

Remove mandate on collection of Indigenous Status
Makes the question "Are you of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin" optional.

Mandate collection of Highest School Level
Makes What is your highest COMPLETED school level? a required field.

Do not collect Year Completed
Removes the question "In which year did you complete that school level" from the AVETMISS step. This option cannot be enabled if Remove mandate on collection of Year Completed is ticked.

The 'Disable forced collection of Year Completed' checkbox makes the question "In which year did you complete that school level" optional. This option cannot be enabled if 'Hide Year Completed' is enabled.

Mandate collection of Secondary School status
 Makes mandatory the question "Are you still enrolled in secondary or senior secondary education?".

Disable collection of Prior Qual Name & Year
Toggles the "Qualification Name" and "Year Completed" columns for the Prior Education section.

Do not collect Prior Education Recognition
Toggles the Recognition column for the Prior Education section.

Mandate collection of Prior Education Recognition
Makes selecting a Recognition mandatory for any ticked prior education item.

Remove AVETMISS file upload
If enabled, this will remove the optional file upload provided at the AVETMISS step for uploading prior education evidence.

Mandate AVETMISS file upload
Makes the file upload mandatory if the user indicates they have prior education. This option cannot be enabled if Remove AVETMISS file upload is ticked.

Mandate collection of Study Reason
Makes mandatory the question "Of the following categories, which best describes your main reason for undertaking this course/traineeship/apprenticeship?".

Mandate collection of Employment Status
Makes mandatory the question "Of the following categories, which BEST describes your current employment status?".

Mandate collection of Length of Employment
Makes mandatory the question "How long have you worked with this employer?", which is displayed if the employment status is set to either Full-time employee or Part-time employee.

Collect length of unemployment
Adds the question "Are you short-term or long-term (more than 52 weeks) unemployed?". The question is only displayed in the case of the customer selecting either 'Unemployed - seeking full-time work', or 'Unemployed - seeking part-time work' in response to the employment status question.

AVETMISS Step Introduction

This section allows control over the text displayed between the step heading and the first of the questions for the AVEMISS step. There is no default introduction.

• Type plain text or html directly into the field.
• Alternatively, click to open the Editor, where text can be entered and formatted, then click Apply and the resulting html will be inserted into the field. Click Save to commit the changes.
