Backing up the VETtrak Database

NOTE:  The built-in backup tool provided with VETtrak is only suitable for Interbase/Firebird databases.  If you are using a MS SQL Server database, follow normal backup procedures for SQL Server.

To make a backup of your database, go to Utility>Backup database.

This will display the Backup Database Wizard:

  1. Enter the path to where you would like the backup file placed, or
  2. Browse to it using this button.
  3. Click this button to start the process.
  4. Messages regarding the backup progress are displayed here.
  5. This message will be displayed when the backup is complete.  Do not exit this wizard before you see this message.

NOTE: The backup file produced is a zipped copy of your database file at the time of the backup.  The name given to the file will include the date for easy identification.
