Autonumber client options

This feature set applies to the automatic generation of client codes when creating a new client.

Autonumber clients sets the default state of the Code Auto checkbox in the Client Wizard. If enabled, the Auto checkbox will be ticked and VETtrak will automatically allocate a client code. The Auto checkbox can still be unticked and the code entered manually.

Prefix allows you to set numbers/letters that will be included at the beginning of every client number assigned. The prefix can contain no more than 5 characters. For example: STU-.

# of digits is how long the number will be (not including the prefix, but can be no more than 10 characters in length together with the prefix, ie. a 5 character prefix will ensure a maximum of 5 digits before the prefix is overridden). For example: 5.

Sample is an example of a valid number that fits the settings. This is typically the next unused number in the sequence. For example: STU-00001.

The Set next number button will allow you to manually increment the number, if for any reason you want to skip a specific number or consecutive numbers. You cannot lower the value.

Changes to this setting will not apply until after the next client is created. You may want to create a dummy client to inherit the old autonumber value, and then create the real client. The dummy client can then be deleted.

This feature set applies to the automatic generation of parchment numbers when creating a new award.
